We are seeking a dynamic and talented Engineering Office Technician to join our team.

Qualifications:
  • 2 years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering or a job related technical/science curriculum
  • 5 years of engineering experience a PLUS
  • Valid drivers license
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Programs (i,e, Word, Excel, Suites) and Adobe Acrobat
  • CMMS experience a PLUS
  • e-Builder experience a PLUS
  • IDOT Documentation of Contract Quantities Certification a PLUS
  • Experience with maintaining up to date highway sub-section maps (references to old and as-built plans) a PLUS

As a Pinpoint Engineering Office Technician your duties will include the following:


  • Reviewing plans for accuracy of quantities, specifications, safety, and constructability.
  • Keeping track of roadway inventories (maintenance and jurisdiction maps);
  • Supervises the entry of information into the AMP, and produces reports based on this information for budget and spending projections;
  • Assists with the operation of the communications center during emergencies;
  • Operates in an environment where it is important to have technical expertise in computer and office equipment, mapping software, budgeting and inventory functions and software, and record-keeping skills.
  • Reviewing agreements with local agencies and private entities to ensure knowledge of proper jurisdiction and subsequent location of documentation to support those findings; organizing and archiving those agreements for ease of locating and reviewing regularly to resolve issues that arise; and processing invoices for payment of municipalities in accordance with their agreements with the district;
  • This position operates within the guidelines established by the Bureau of Operations Maintenance Policy Manual, the Highway Standards Manual, Jurisdictional Transfer Guidelines, Asset Management Program Manuals, and budgetary and manpower limitations; and
  • Frequent contact with managers and stakeholders.
