The Operations Department is looking to fill a Spill Support Technician at Pikka.This position is open to internal and external applicants.

 

All qualified and interested applicants must complete the requirements of this posting prior to 5pm on the closing date of May 7, 2024.

 

Responsibilities include spill cleanup and coordinating clean up performed by contract personnel and SRT’s; assisting with SRT training facilitation and training of contract personnel as needed to ensure full compliance with all regulations; manage accumulation and disposal of spill wastes and monitor and maintain integrity of waste management storage sites; arrange for shipping of hazardous waste; maintain inventory of spill response equipment consistent with contingency plan and ensure equipment is in good working order; assist in maintaining records associated with onsite permitting and other regulatory requirements. Perform wildlife hazing, capture and stabilization, proper handling and disposal or shipping of expired wildlife. As well as documenting all wildlife interactions.

 

Other responsibilities consist of performing safety observations, identifying and recording hazard analyses of specific jobs, perform site inspections around the assigned facility to ensure areas are free from potential environmental and safety risks, responsible for support of the ACS Company operative as primary spill responder on the North Slope, inland and offshore.

 

Depending on assigned location duties may also include activities associated with documentation, inventory levels, and optimization of the warehouse and other materials storage areas, and parts room; maintains a thorough knowledge of the materials, inventory and warehousing responsibilities and procedures within ACS and/or assigned area.  Assists in daily activities to support the warehousing, operational, and training activities within ACS; processes incoming and outgoing freight; maintains ACS’ database for tracking all ACS equipment locations and inventory levels.  Assists with organization and housekeeping of outside storage areas and all warehousing related activities at the unit SRT shops to ensure uniformity and accuracy of records and procedures.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Hazardous Waste Management including education of others, ensuring that all activities are in compliance with regulations, monitoring and maintaining storage sites, transport, shipping and disposal. Puncturing aerosol cans for shipment, assisting with hydrocarbon recycle, and processing batteries, light bulbs and ballasts, oily waste and empty drums for shipment. Conduct regular SAA/UAA inspections to ensure safety and compliance. Maintain waste storage bins and monitor and collect as needed and arrange for disposal. May be responsible for incineration of waste depending on area.
  • May assist with de-watering operations, pad inspections, and pipeline inspections. May conduct SPCC tank inspections, SWPPP inspections and perform fluid transfers
  • Ensure that all response equipment including the entire site inventory of spill response equipment is maintained, operational and available at all times, including PM’s and day to day maintenance.
  • Maintain up-to-date working knowledge of onsite response equipment and vehicles including but not limited to: forklift, boom truck, skid steer loader, pickup truck; ATV, snow machine, vessels to include powerboat, airboat and other equipment determined by area (Dempster truck system, ARKTOS, etc.).
  • Assist in organization and facilitation of SRT training in the classroom and in the field on methods of spill cleanup, and use of spill response equipment, demonstrating the proper techniques, tactics and strategies.
  • Provide support / assistance in deceased wildlife
  • May perform sampling for waste determinations. Establish Chain of Custody and track results.
  • Assist with pad inspection documentation for assigned location.
  • Daily surveillance of plant facilities, tanks and other field locations for spills, leaks or any environmental concerns.
  • May perform Visible Emission Inspections.
  • May perform cleaning of drain sumps in facilities, collect and process aerosol cans, SPCC tank inspections and inspection of dumpster.
  • May coordinate snow removal on site, to include secondary containment and duck ponds, drip liners
  • Building of secondary containment for mobile tanks during drilling and operations. Maintenance, moving, and breaking down of these containment as needed. Inspection, use and repair of all duck ponds on site.
  • Ensure routine, documented inspections of RCRA waste storage areas are completed.
  • May collect oily waste from facility well bays, waste injection facility, drill sites, etc. May also manage the pickup of burnable, non-burnable and oily waste dumpsters
  • Monitor satellite accumulation areas and RCRA storage site to ensure Hazardous Waste Generator status is properly tracked and reported
  • May provide and coordinate training for waste management, Storm water pollution prevention, NPDES, SAA / RAA / Universal waste or other training as required
  • Report and address safety concerns/issues/incidents promptly
  • Reactively and proactively take necessary actions to stop and/or correct unsafe behaviors or conditions
  • Maintain 100% mandatory compliance with required HSE training identified in the ACS Training matrix
  • Facilitate or participate in regular company safety meetings and task related “Tailgate Safety Meetings” which include task hazard recognition, appropriate response, and identified controls
  • Report promptly every injury, near miss, and incidence of fire, equipment or property damage; complete detailed documentation of incidents and safety violations as required
  • Assist in the investigation of incidents as required
  • Work safely and maintain a safe workplace on ACS premises and while providing services on behalf of ACS at any location; be responsible for your safe performance on the job and protect the safety of others in the workplace

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend and participate in meetings, exercises, drills and training as required
  • Palletize equipment, materials and parts. Construct shipping and/or storage crates
  • Be able to step up to fill the Lead Tech position as needed
  • Perform all other work duties as assigned

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years spill response and hazardous waste experience
  • Clearly speak, read, write and understand the English language.
  • Class “A” CDL with Hazardous Materials Endorsement (manager’s discretion whether license must be unrestricted or restricted “O”); and good driving record required.
  • Wear and work in a respirator (full-face)
  • Current 40-hour HAZWOPER, First Aid/CPR and H2S certifications
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification
  • Operate a variety of equipment including but not limited to: semi-trailer truck, boom truck, Auto-car, front end loader with various attachments, skid steer, walk behind Bobcat, various configurations of man lifts, warehouse equipment, forklift, pallet and hand truck, response equipment, and various powered and un-powered hand tools; offshore vessels to include powerboat and airboat.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Unassisted physical requirements include all those necessary to meet minimum qualifications of a qualified spill responder: lifting up to 70 lbs; carrying up to 50 lbs; pushing/pulling up to 100lbs; shoveling up to 20lbs. 
  • Position also requires frequent walking, standing and occasional sitting, squatting, bending, reaching and keyboarding.
  • Position is required to meet DOT and HAZWOPER physical requirements including being cleared to wear a full-face air purifying respirator.

WORKING CONDITIONS:                                                    

  • Position is North Slope assigned with working hours 12 hours a day., 7 days a week and normally works 2 weeks on shift and 2-weeks off with an alternate. This position is on-call 24 hours a day while on the North Slope or assigned temporarily to another project.  Flexibility regarding hours of work and length of shift required as needed to meet business demands.  Position may be recalled at any time during spill emergencies.
  • Position may be exposed to extremely cold weather conditions at times while working outdoors. Arctic PPE is provided.
  • Position may be working with hazardous materials and wastes.
  • Dress code is professional commensurate with North Slope practices where applicable.
  • ANSI standard safety footwear is required at all times while working.
