Job Description
Position Summary:
The Resources Volunteer Coordinator assists the Food Bank and Depot Thrift Store
managers in supporting operations by preparing, monitoring and managing the volunteer
schedules. The volunteer coordinator will recruit, train, and schedule volunteers to ensure
operational efficiencies and a positive volunteer experience. The coordinator will provide
reviews of the volunteer program, suggestions for improvements, as well as periodic reports.
Hours: Part time, 15-20 / week
Key Responsibilities:
• Recruit and coordinate volunteers: Attract, screen, and select volunteers tailored to
serve both the food bank and the thrift store’s needs
• Onboarding and training: Implement an effective onboarding process for new
volunteers, ensuring they are well-prepared for their roles through task-specific training
• Schedule management: Develop and manage volunteer schedules, accommodating
individual availability and organizational requirements onsite and offsite. Maintain
appropriate files and records
• Volunteer program development: Regularly assess the volunteer program’s efficacy,
making strategic suggestions to enhance logistics, volunteer engagement and
satisfaction
• Communicate regularly with thrift store and food bank managers, and Resources
leadership when appropriate, to ensure smooth operations. Prepare and submit monthly,
quarterly, and yearly reports on volunteer participation and contributions
• Conduct volunteer appreciation efforts and assist leadership in organizing the annual
Volunteer Appreciation luncheon
• Promote ReSources mission and values through every volunteer interaction
Qualities and Qualifications
• Passion for non-profit work, especially related to food security and community support.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to engage effectively with
diverse groups of volunteers.
• Excellent organizational and time-management capabilities.
• Ability to work independently and make informed decisions when necessary.
• Flexibility to work around varying schedules and adapt to changing needs.
• Proficiency in basic computer skills (Microsoft 365 and Office Suite) and a willingness to
learn volunteer management programs
• Experience coordinating volunteers or similar experience in a non-profit setting is highly
desirable
• Able to lift 30 pounds, walk and stand for significant periods of time
