We are a local independent retailer in downtown Eugene, Oregon specializing in practical goods for natural living. We have been in business since 1977 with an emphasis on products that are durable, long lasting, unique and sustainable. Our store offers a wide selection of products for the home, garden and the kitchen. Our nursery specializes in organic, locally grown vegetable starts, perennials, unique shrubs, edible plants, herbs and much more. We carry our own brand of high quality natural and organic fertilizers and soil amendments. Our kitchen and housewares department is well known for its large selection of Fiesta Dinnerware, cooking accessories, houseplants, unique gift items and cards.

We are currently seeking applicants for any of our sales departments. Ideal applicants will have experience in any of the following: cooking, baking, canning & preserving food, caring for houseplants, organic gardening, or beekeeping. Pay at $15/hr. Please include a cover letter with your resume.

Applicants must be available for full time work, including both Saturday and Sunday. Full time is 5 days, 40 hours per week. Days off are consecutive and do not rotate; subject to change as needed.

Job duties include but not limited to:

• Greet every customer who comes into our store.
• Facilitate sales on the sales floor.
• Working as part of a team with a unified goal of educating our customer base about the products we sell and their intended use.
• Answering customer questions or directing them to the appropriate employee who can.
• Cashiering.
• Answering multi line phones.
• Stocking product, pricing and merchandising product under the direction of the department supervisor.

Working conditions:

Requires occasional lifting and exertion for short periods of time. Required to be standing/mobile for extended periods of time. This position is based in our Eugene retail store. Housewares and Garden departments work inside a heated space and the Nursery is outdoors and exposed to elements.

Job Requirements:

• High School Degree or equivalent
• General ability to problem solve
• Basic math skills
• Proficiency in the written and spoken English language
• Additional knowledge in beekeeping and plant pest identification a plus
• Additional knowledge in houseplants, cooking, baking, canning and preserving a plus
