Summary:

Effective and forward-thinking Purchasing and Planning Manager, that brings valuable industry experience, and skills to achieve real results.Adept in developing key relationships with strategic partners and committed to working to ensure the company continually moves in the right direction.Demonstrated ability to effectively oversee all processes related to the advantageous procurement of goods and services.


Essential Functions/Job Responsibilities:


  • Provides leadership and partners with key stake holders across the company to drive process improvement and meet business objectives.
  • Direct team, remove obstacles and implement practices which ensures customers receive product in a timely manner using cost efficient processes (workforce planning, inventory management, purchasing, systems utilization)
  • Hire, train, motivate, evaluate, and supervise staff to ensure that all employees receive adequate guidance, coaching, and resources to perform their jobs and achieve department objectives.
  • Establish Sales and Operations Planning; partner with Supply Chain, Sales, Operations, Engineering and Executive leadership to improve and optimize the process to help drive key business decisions.
  • Ensure that strategic procurement processes are in place to enable operational and production continuity.
  • Manage supplier performance to ensure quality, on time delivery, fill rates, and service standards are met
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers, distributors or service providers
  • Develop, negotiate and administer purchasing agreements and contracts with suppliers in support of organizational requirements.
  • Evaluate spending and savings opportunities while seeking ways to improve and enhance the quality of products purchased, the timeliness of deliveries, and inventory management optimization.
  • Establish key performance indicators for purchasing, inventory, and schedule attainment; monitor ongoing performance; and drive performance improvements in the KPIs.
  • Collaborate with Warehouse, Production, and Operations for material management.
  • Assess, manage, and mitigate risk throughout the supply chain.
  • Collaborate with suppliers on quality issues and aid in the implementation of preventative/corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Establishes through visual management and continually enhances self-sustaining processes that drive associate involvement and support decision-making at the lowest possible level.
  • Support non-inventory purchasing ensuring effective procurement processes and support structure.
  • Monitors safety practices and makes necessary adjustments to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.

  • Understanding of business and management principles
  • Thorough understanding of materials and supplies used in the company.
  • Knowledgeable with Enterprise Resource Planning software, MRP, MPS, Capacity Planning and other tools
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or 10 or more years of equivalent work experience. Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience.
  • Experience in precision metal fabrication, industrial products, machined assemblies a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience with Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma, and Lean


Certifications, Licenses, Registration:

  • APICS Certification preferred but not required.
