Barista + Prep Cook

Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:

Barista

• Greet customers in a friendly manner and taking food and drink orders
• Prepare and serve beverages such as espresso-based drinks, tea and other specialty drinks
• Prepare and serve food items such as soups, sandwiches and pastries
• Answer customers’ questions about menu choices
• Promote and recommend menu options to customers
• Track and order inventory for cafe and beverage supplies, such as coffee beans, milk, napkins and cups
• Maintain espresso machines, grinders, coffee machines and other equipment by cleaning, troubleshooting and scheduling repairs
• Keep the work environment and cafe seating area clean, sanitary and organized
• Respond to and resolve customer concerns or complaints

Prep Cook

• Completing all tasks on the prep list from the Head Chef or other kitchen manager
• Labeling and stocking all ingredients on easily accessible shelves
• Washing, chopping and sorting ingredients like fruits, vegetables and meats
• Measuring quantities of seasonings and other cooking ingredients
• Parboiling food, reducing sauces and starting first steps in various dishes
• Cleaning dishes, washing cooking utensils and cookware, and sanitizing kitchen
• Adhering to all relevant nutrition and sanitary regulations and standards
• Keeping track of ingredient inventory and collaborating with other kitchen and management staff to order resupply

Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs on a daily basis
• Must be able to be active and work on feet for long periods of time
• Must be able to pick up hours to work special events and wedding catering outside of normal cafe business hours
