Job Description
SUMMARY
The Truck Pusher is responsible for all activities for the truck drivers. This position will be responsible for staffing and managing 10 to 20 truck drivers. Getting the truck drivers lined up and sent out in the morning. Making sure that pre trip and post trips are completed properly and timely. Assisting any of the drivers with any mechanically problems they have. Making sure that JMAC drivers and Lease drivers are running efficiently and to the correct locations. The Truck Pusher will spend roughly 80% of the time driving truck, operating loader, or other pieces of equipment, and 20% of the time pushing in a pickup, and in the office.
DUTIES
- Work closely with the General Manager to develop processes & procedures
- Supervises employees who transport cargo to and from specified locations.
- Responsible for hiring and firing
- Safety Training and Development of new and existing drivers
- Train, Evaluate and Critique potential new hires as they come in
- Maintain, Diagnose, and Troubleshoot any potential down trucks and fix in the field
- Report Daily to General Manager on Equipment and Concerns
- Address complaints and resolves problems
- Works closely with Dispatchers
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Build relationships with lease drivers creating a large pool of trucking companies to draw from
- Help out with dispatching and take some weekend dispatch shifts
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Demonstrated commitment to safety as expressed in JMAC Resources corporate value People First, Safety Always
· Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
· 2 year experience working as a Class A Truck Driver
· Valid US issued Class A driver’s license, with clean driving record
· Knowledge of the operation of the truck and trailers (Tankers, Belly dumps, Side dumps) that the company uses in its daily operations.
· Responsible for DOT Compliance and Records
· Medical card
· Drug & Alcohol free
· Computer skills, Excel , word etc.
· Availability, day or night
· Availability to work long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required
· Ability to work safely in all types of weather
· Ability to operate front end loaders and load truck independently if needed
· Ability to report to work at all times on short notice
· Ability to crawl under truck for inspection and greasing as required
· Physical ability to access and operate equipment and to safely function in/around a construction worksite and kneel crouch, bend, and reach with hands/arms
· Ability to crawl under truck for inspection and greasing as required
· Physical ability lift and carry 50 pounds
· Ability to lift hood, check oil and coolant levels and all other inspection functions daily
