Bark River-Harris Schools is looking to hire a full time School Counselor

The Bark River-Harris School District is a K-12 rural school with superior academic, behavioral and social emotional programs. With approximately 750 students, BRH is part of the Delta-Schoolcraft Intermediate School District and serves students from Delta and Menominee Counties.

School Counselor Job Responsibilities:

* Assists students with academic, educational and short-term social and emotional issues.
* Provides individual student planning and support services to assist students and their families regarding academic matters.
* Provides necessary screening to students through planned activities in small group or classroom settings to convey educational, social and important school information and offers workshops/seminars for students.
* Consults, facilitates and maintains communication with parents, teachers and administrators and outside agencies on specific student academic and
educational matters including academic modifications and/or accommodations.
* Provides feedback and recommends appropriate action and data-based solutions to individual student's academic and educational needs and abilities.
* Supports all students in developmentally appropriate discussions and activities related to post-secondary options.
* Participates in the Student Success Team, identifies students who may need targeted or intensive services and coordinates with a variety of providers to
access appropriate services.
* Provides mental health and social emotional screening to address social and emotional concerns and appropriately refers students to behavioral health
specialists.
* Communicates, coordinates and collaborates with behavioral health specialists on developing and implementing student supports.
* Supports and attends appropriate student activities and events.
* Accurately completes state reports.
* Coordinates, facilitates, and proctor's multiple assessments.

* Extensive knowledge or willingness to gain knowledge on Michigan Merit
Curriculum graduation requirements is preferred.
* Previous experience with state testing accommodations preferred.
* Other duties as assigned by the Student Success Coordinator and Superintendent.



Education, Experience and Licensing Requirements:

* Required: valid Michigan teaching certification
* Preferred: Michigan certification in Counseling/Guidance and/or Education
* Understanding and familiarity with computer applications (PowerSchool) and word processing functions.
