Description:
Mi-Tech offers a broad range of professional, engineering and technical services to the telecommunications and power delivery markets. We have a current opening for an OSP Aerial Design Associate. At Mi-Tech, we support our customers and stakeholders and constantly strive to exceed expectations with all of our services, which include: Communications Design Services, Energy Distribution Services, Utility Pole Inspection, and Environmental Services.

Responsibilities:
• This person will be going out into the field with another technician to collect data off of utility poles. Taking pictures, Using GPS units to take measurements and taking physical measurements of different components / on the poles. They will be out in the field for a day or two and then will be in the office 60% of the time loading that data into their software. It will give them a yes or no on whether the pole is able to be loaded with new wire or if it needs to be replaced. They will then submit that into their tracking system and from there it will get accepted or kicked back. They will also do some design work.
• Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions.
• Travel, including overnight travel is required

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- need someone who is flexible in terms of doing field and office work. Initially during training they will be in the field doing data collection work for the first month or so prior to starting.
- need to be flexible with driving to various job sites. initially until they get a company vehicle they will be driving to the Madison office, meeting with the crew, then taking company truck with another tech to the job site.
- someone who can travel 2-3 days overnight per week (WI and Eastern IA) mostly day travel but some overnight travel is required.
- ok being outside in the field taking measurements in all weather conditions 40-50% of the time and then a mix of field and office work
- Need to be flexible in terms of schedules changes last minute in terms of them being in the field or office. There are some days that if weather gets really bad they may have them go into the office and they may not find this out until last minute.
A few different backgrounds work out well in this role:
- A GIS certification or 6+ months of GIS experience or schooling related to GIS work AND desire or experience working out in the field
- Utility locating AND (some type of computer system experience (cad, gis software, mapping software, etc.)
- surveyor AND (some type of computer system experience (cad, gis software, mapping software, etc.)
PREFERRED:
- OSP (outside plant) design or fielding experience. fiber optic network experience / fiber to the home.
