ELECTRICAL SYSTEM DESIGNER (Controls & Automation):
• 2-year associates degree in Engineering Technology or technical degree (minimum) or;
• 5 or more years' experience with industrial electrical and controls with in-depth knowledge of AutoCAD designing PLC-based control systems, control panels, and related power distribution for low voltage systems (typically 480 VAC and below).
• Responsibilities and capabilities include:
o Ability to select and specify electrical components and design PLC-based control systems, panels, MCCs, drives, and related power distribution systems.
o Develop detailed electrical drawings for controls and automation hardware design for panel fabrication and field use.
o Familiar with and capable to design meeting all applicable codes as applicable such as UL-508A, NFPA 79, NEC, and other codes as applicable based on location.
o Prepare conduit/cables schedules and riser diagrams for electrical installation.
o Create/update I/O points list based on field data, P&IDs, and other related information.
o Prepare electrical scope documents for demolition and installation.
o Generate network topology drawings showing all related required details for the various communication systems.
o Experience with instrumentation, sensors, drives/motor control, and the related power distribution.
o Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
o Must be able to perform independently on most assignments.
o Must be willing to travel (approximately 10-15%) to gather/confirm field information needed for design efforts and for startup/commissioning efforts.
Capabilities that are not required but would be considered a plus:
  • Familiarity with material handling, batching, and furnace and forehearth controls in the glass industry.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical and/or MicroStation.
  • Ability to read and understand P&ID's.
  • Familiar with preparing single-line and three-line diagrams.
  • Plant and/or field experience.
  • Panel shop wireman, field electrician, or bench electronic skills.
  • Project management and field commissioning experience.
  • PLC and HMI programming experience.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits utilizing a digital voltmeter (DVM).
  • Ability to handle factory acceptance testing (FAT) for the designed equipment
