About this job

This is a full time (0.8 - 1.0 Status), day shift Health Information Managment Technician position in the Medical Records department.

Receive, validate, and process phone, paper, and email requests of medical record information for continuity of care. Scan in all release of information forms into the EMR. Process, scan, and index medical records for completeness and compliance. Prepare, scan, and index documents into the correct electronic medical record. Receive and process all patient types of paper documents and images. Process and document scanned medical recordfs for applicable chart retention storage. Uses PC-based computer applications, scanners, and alphaneumeric processes in daily activies.

Collaberate and coordinate with nursing and clinical units to provide professional level support and for the retrieval and handeling of medical records.  Maintain confidentiality of all patient demographic, medical, and financial information, ensuring proper handeling and disposal of confidential documents and adhearence to HIPPA. Transcription support. 

Identify, resolve, and escalate major issues and service failures to achieve department and organizational goals. Perform quality analysist audits of committed medical records.  Maintain productivity standards, accuracy rates, and utilize time efficiently.  Comply with all applicable Federal, State, and Local laws, regulations, and requirements as well as Community Medical Center policies and procedures in all aspects of job performance.

Minimum Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent required. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills and stratagies required. Ability to accuratley relay information and communicate in a tactful and courteous manner with co-workers, clinical staff, non-clinical staff, patients, and visitors required. Proficient with computer and keyboarding skills and experience using Microsoft Office products required. Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, and medical record documentation required.

Preferred/Desired: One to Two (1 to 2) years of acute care or clinical medical record hospital experience (or equivalent education) preferred. Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) / Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) preferred. Electronic Medical Record experience preferred.

On-Call / Weekend Requirements:  None.
