William & Co. Foods, Inc. is a high-quality meat distribution company in Boston providing the highest level of quality and service to our customers.

We are seeking an experienced meat cutter with outstanding butcher skills to join our team. As a leader in the meat cutting department, this role is crucial to our operation and requires an efficient, dependable individual with leadership capabilities, strong organization and communication skills, dependability and knowledge of various types of meat. You must adhere to all refrigeration safety and manufacturing sanitation guidelines. This position will be responsible for training meat cutters as needed, ordering product, overseeing the cutting floor, and maintaining all safety and manufacturing guidelines. Salary will be discussed during the interview process and will be based on previous experience and knowledge of: meat products, purchasing, receiving, meat cutting, cutting equipment, OSHA and HACCP policies and regulations. Our ideal candidate will have 5+ years of meat cutting experience with extensive knowledge regarding meat and cuts. We prefer a candidate with experience working with OSHA and HACCP however, it is not required.

 

Hours Monday-Friday 6am – 3pm with a 1 hour lunch

Salary $45,000 - $75,000 / year

Meat Cutter / Floor Manager Duties and Responsibilities

· Operate all meat cutting equipment including band saw, grinders, cubers, wrapping machines, power jacks, knives and cutters

· Train, mentor and support other meat cutters as needed

· Break down beef, pork, poultry, sausages, cured meats or other meat products into various cuts, weigh out portions, and package product

· Purchase, receive and rotate product

· Communicate with customers concerning meat product as needed to ensure customer satisfaction

· Enter sales orders and purchase orders as needed

· Maintain compliance with all safety and sanitation standards mandated by state, federal and OSHA regulations

· Help to develop and write HACCP procedures

· Point of contact for OSHA and HACCP

· Immediately reports safety hazards and violations; escalates any concerns as appropriate

 

Meat Cutter / Floor Manager Requirements and Qualifications

· High school diploma or GED certificate preferred

· 5+ year of prior meat cutting experience or training preferred

· Proper knowledge and experience using power saws, knives, slicers, cubers, grinders, scales, and power jacks

· Basic math skills

· Knowledgeable about various cuts of meat

· Exceptional cutting skills for various meats

· General knowledge of meat pricing

· Experience with OSHA and HACCP preferred

· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

· Ability to stand for up to 8 hours

· Regular, predictable, full attendance is a crucial function of this position

· Must arrive on time, suitably groomed, dressed and ready to work

· Must be able to work in a cold environment

· Act with integrity and honesty to maintain a safe and positive environment
