We are seeking an experienced Machinist to join our team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the design, fabrication, and maintenance of tooling and fixtures for Operations and Engineering projects. This position requires a hands-on professional with extensive experience in custom tool and fixture design, fabrication, and project management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and manufacture tooling and fixtures for Operations and Engineering equipment projects
  • Assist operations by troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing existing production equipment
  • Support safety by fabricating machine guarding and enclosures to ensure that factory process, calibration, filling and test equipment is safe for operators, including eliminating safety hazards and ergonomic risks
  • Assist in rework of factory produced goods while adhering to precise tolerances if approved and needed
  • Sharpen and maintain press dies used for factory stamping operations
  • Work with team to prioritize Tool Engineering work orders where daily production support, safety and repairs need to be addressed first. Regular Tool Engineering work requests will be secondary
  • Prioritize and coordinate support for all projects by utilizing the internal machine shop (CNC) and / or outside resources to minimize the delays in Tool Engineering
  • Assist Manufacturing, Operations Managers, Engineers with troubleshooting and material costs for project plans
  • Support and work closely with Test, Process and Design Engineering departments on their projects and suggest ideas for process improvements where possible
  • Drive continuous improvement by monitoring and evaluating tooling requirements to ensure high safety, quality and efficiency requirements are met


Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 10+ years of "hands on", custom tool & fixture design and fabrication including assembly, build and testing of project components


Preferred Qualification:
  • AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.Experience with 80/20 T Slot construction methods, or equivalent
  • Comfort machining with various materials, including nylon, brass, aluminum, stainless steel, composite phenolics and tool steels
  • Understanding of pneumatically actuated components and systems, and their corresponding safety features
  • Proficient with Tool Engineering equipment (knee mills, lathes, surface grinders, bandsaws and other various machine shop tooling).
  • Capable of reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, working knowledge of GD&T preferred
  • AutoCAD and 3D modeling / printing (Fusion 360 preferred, SolidWorks, etc.) experience for design and documentation of tooling
  • Effective written and verbal English communication skills (Spanish a plus).
  • Manage inventory and purchase required materials for projects including all project hardware, raw materials and off-the-shelf components
  • Management of project schedules and budgets
  • Safety focused mindset for both personal actions and produced tooling
