Responsibilities

Kadant Solutions Division is seeking to hire a CNC Machinist for second shift at our Auburn, MA. location. The CNC Machinist is responsible for the setup and operation of CNC and manual turning and milling machine tools to produce products from various materials to the specifications of blueprints, sketches and work instructions.

• Ability to work independently in planning, layout, set-up and operation of CNC and manual machine tools.
• Proof read and edit CNC programs as required.
• Understands set up operation & program of G&M codes.
• Responsible for machining and inspecting product to insure it is within specifications.
• Perform all machining operations, including but not limited to Milling, Turning, Facing, Drilling, Reaming, Threading, Tapping, Deburring and assembly of product.
• Perform basic machine maintenance as instructed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Fully responsible for the quality of their own work.
• Comply with all company safety policies, procedures and practices.
• Must be a team player and participate in efforts to achieve department and company goals.
• Work overtime as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Advanced shop mathematics and an understanding of the order of operations and good manufacturing practices is essential. The CNC Machinist must be able to correctly use and read basic measuring tools such as micrometers, vernier calipers and indicators .Experience with the methods and devices to lift heavy irregularly shaped objects such as cranes and power lifts is essential. Verbal and written communication skills to convey information within the organization and the ability to solve practical manufacturing problems with little guidance is important. Also, the position requires organizational skills, basic computer knowledge and responsibility for quality of work. Successful candidates will have a high school diploma and a minimum of 5+ years of hands on experience with the setup and operation of CNC and manual machine tools.
