Schools - Sign Language Interpreter

ProCare Therapy is seeking a dedicated and qualified Sign Language Interpreter to join our team. The Sign Language Interpreter will work closely with deaf or hard of hearing students to facilitate communication between them and their peers, teachers, and other staff members. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring equal access to education for all students.

Responsibilities:

• Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa for deaf or hard of hearing students in classroom settings, assemblies, meetings, and other school activities.
• Provide support to students by clarifying information, assisting with note-taking, and reinforcing instructional materials.
• Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and other staff members to ensure effective communication and understanding of students' needs.
• Assist in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with hearing impairments.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
• Attend professional development workshops and training sessions to stay updated on best practices and advancements in sign language interpretation.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Sign Language Interpretation or a related field preferred.
• RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) certification or equivalent preferred.
• EIPA 4.0
• Previous experience working as a sign language interpreter in an educational setting is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of deaf culture.
• Must be able to teach DHH
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with students, teachers, and parents.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to adapt to various communication styles and environments.
• Must pass a background check and any other required screenings.

*This is a W2 contract position starting at $35/hour*
