Transportation Coordinator

Job Summary:

The Transportation Planner role is to organize and consolidate LTL and truckload orders through Paragon routing software and Federal Express EDI. Monitors deliveries, assists carriers in resolving issues, and communicates to appropriate parties, as necessary. Provides specialty mode transportation services as defined as LTL, Intermodal, and Bulk/Ocean Container. Assigns, tenders, and completes all transactional activities in appropriate TMS settings. Organizes and consolidates truckloads to provide economical rates and high-performance levels. Monitors deliveries, assists carriers in resolving issues, and communicates to appropriate parties, as necessary.

Description:

•Assigns and tenders LTL and TL shipments to preferred carriers using availability/applicable transportation management systems.

•Organizes and consolidates LTL shipments into truckloads, while reducing transportation expense.

•Monitors shipments to ensure on-time delivery.

•Assists carriers in resolving issues and communicates to appropriate parties, as necessary.

•Supports shipping locations with rush shipment arrangements and problem resolution.

•Assists in resolving issues and communicate to appropriate parties, as necessary.

•Acts as liaison between Sales/Customer Service, Transportation, and Warehouse departments.

•Supporting other activities and projects as assigned or dictated by business priorities.

Education and Experience:

•Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree desired.

•At least three (3) years of distribution/transportation experience desired.

•Experience with TMS and multiple transportation platforms (e.g., TMS, PeopleNet, Paragon), preferred.

•Strong quality written/oral communication skills and interpersonal skills.

•Strong organizational and time-management skills.

•Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

•Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks while paying close attention to detail and ensuring the accuracy of work.

•Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

•Willing and able to function in a team environment.
