THE POSITION

About US!:
The Office of Community Development manages federal funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development, such as Community Development Block Grant, Emergency Solutions Grant and HOME Investment Partnerships programs, as well as local funding to support programs and projects benefiting low and moderate income individuals and households.
  • Community Development Block Grant (CDBG): Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) are federal funds awarded to cities and urban counties for housing and community development projects. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development administers the program on a national level, but it's planned and controlled locally.
  • Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG) programs: The Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) provides federal funds to assist individuals and families to quickly regain stability after experiencing a housing crisis or homelessness.
  • HOME Investment Partnerships Program: The HOME Investment Partnerships Program provides federal funds for the development of affordable housing for low- and very low-income households, and encourages partnerships among state agencies, local governments, non-profits, and for-profit organizations.
  • Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA): US Treasury's Emergency Rental Assistance Program provides rent and utility assistance households with low income impacted by the COVID pandemic.

About the Opportunity:
The primary responsibilities include typical front desk duties such as responding to visitor and caller questions, filing, preparing correspondence, transcribing meeting notes, sorting and distributing incoming mail, performing data entry, and processing receivables and payables. This position supports the overall staff assigned to the Office of Community Development.

Upon successfully completing the training period, this position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, including 1-2 days/week of remote work.

About YOU!:
The ideal candidate has strong customer service and communication skills supported by public service values that emphasize equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace and in program administration. They are equipped to provide courteous and responsive service to clients and organizations that participate in various public service, infrastructure, public facility, or other affordable housing projects administered by the office. They are familiar with the Microsoft 365 products and possess the ability to learn and quickly adapt to new programs. Experience with setting up executive-level meetings and transcribing notes is essential in this role. Also, possession of the ability to multi-task and work effectively in a standard office environment and knowledge of or experience with Community Development programs including Community Development Block Grant, HOME Investment, Emergency Solutions Grant or other similar programs is preferable.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent; AND Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience providing administrative or clerical support.
  • Possession of Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) or other applicable certifications may substitute for up to one (1) year of the experience requirement.
Additional Specialty Requirements:
  • This position is required to pass a criminal background check post offer.

Selection Process:

  5. Conditional Offer: A final candidate is required to successfully clear a 3rd party background check and driving record check as pre-employment conditions.
