Title: Supervisor, Heavy Specialized Operations

Location: Jacksonville, FL or Rockford, IL

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am-5pm

What work will you perform?

Supervise the day-to-day operations of the Heavy Haul department. Provide support to the Agents and BCO's when needed assisting with problems, questions, and covering or finding loads. Focus on improved customer service, equipment utilization, systems enhancements/development, and load compliance control. Instruct and enforce company policies.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist BCOs who are looking for available loads.
  • Assist agents who are looking for available trucks, customers, needing help.
  • Ensure that all operational guidelines are followed relating to safety, inspections, customer requirements, company policy, and State/Federal DOT regulations.
  • Monitor Random Drug Test notifications and completion for HH BCOs.
  • Provide proper training and leadership to the Operations staff for continued growth and development.
  • Supervise and maintain agent/BCO classification program.
  • Monitor and track weekly/monthly reports dealing with load count, retention, revenue figures, equipment types, phone reports, drug testing, ISO CSIRS, ISO QIPS, attendance, vacations, and industry trends.
  • Provide leadership to the division/department, supervise resources to provide proper coverage in the department, establish goals, monitor goals, and delegate assignments.
  • Keep equipment list current and updated using the web directory.
  • Investigate, document, and resolve complaints from BCOs and Agents as they relate to operational procedures.
  • Schedule and hold monthly department meetings and keep open lines of communication.
  • Interview BCO's to determine classification upgrades or suspensions from hauling specialized freight.
  • Complete reviews as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises employees in the Landstar Heavy Haul Operations in the Jacksonville Service Center. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Required Minimum Experience and Education:

  • High-school Diploma or Equivalent
  • 6 months experience working with Heavy Haul Specialized Logistics.

Preferred Experience and Education:

  • Supervisory or Leadership experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Extensive knowledge of Heavy Specialized Operations and requirements
  • Previous Heavy Haul experience required.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Able to travel when needed and be on-call 24/7.
  • Limited weekend travel and coverage
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, AS400
  • Must have an excellent understanding of U.S. geography and North America
  • Must be able to give presentations to groups of BCOs, agents, and customers.
