Waymo's Strategic Sourcing and Purchasing team is a diverse, collaborative, and innovative group responsible for sourcing Waymo's infrastructure needs and indirect services by providing business insight through robust RFPs and an outstanding procure to pay structure. We handle all processes and supplier development strategies: from contracts, RFPs, robust analytics, negotiations, purchasing, and process optimization. We collaborate actively with Waymo's BSE (IT), Marketing, Legal, Finance, Policy, Engineering, G&A, and Product teams as well as external suppliers to make sure Waymo is receiving the best services at the best industry pricing.
This role will be based remotely and report into our Finance organization.
In this role you'll:
- Provide subject matter expertise on categories including construction, operations facilities and the procurement of equipment to meet pressing demand schedules and fulfill needs of our scaling operations.
- Develop multi-year category strategy, build procurement processes with delivery strategies to run processes concurrently to accelerate execution delivery and meet pressing demand schedules.
- Partner with other teams to implement complex category strategies aligned with business/finance goals, address escalations and serve as the supplier relationship champion.
- Lead the end-to-end RFX process, identify and build relationships with strategic suppliers, and maximize value creation.
- Negotiate and draft agreements that minimize financial and business risk exposure, improve terms and conditions, and enforce supplier accountability. Understand and negotiate business specific legal terms and conditions and explain them clearly to clients.
- Analyze data to determine the value of negotiations and the final change in total cost of ownership.
At a minimum we'd like you to have:
- At least 10 years of procurement experience including 7+ years focusing on physical security, facilities, or construction services spend areas.
- Experience performing make versus buy outsourcing analyses and developing total cost of ownership models.
- Experience influencing others and challenging the status quo within their department and company.
- Experience building relationships with a variety of internal and external business contacts.
It's preferred if you have:
- Bachelor's degree in business management, supply chain or related field; or equivalent education and work experience
- Sourcing skills including: identifying sourcing opportunities, performing spend analysis, development of sourcing strategy, project management, development of RFX documents, contract management, supplier bench-marking, contract compliance, purchase order development, resolution of payment issues.
- Demonstrated track record for being able to quickly deliver measurable savings in a fast-changing organization.
- Internal or external business consulting experience.

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level.
