The Senior Specialist, SEC & External Reporting is highly visible to finance leadership with primary responsibility for the preparation of the Company's quarterly and annual filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). This person will also be significantly involved with all other aspects of the quarterly earnings process, including review of the press release, analysts' presentation and all supporting materials. This role will also encompass responsibilities for developing and implementing accounting policies, ESG reporting, analysis of monthly financial results, and acquisition and divestiture projects.
This individual reports through the Controllership organization, and works closely with the Controllership team, Financial Planning and Analysis, Investor Relations, Corporate Communications, Legal, Treasury, and Segment colleagues.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparation and coordination of all SEC financial filings, including the annual report on Form 10-K; quarterly reports on Form 10-Q; proxy filings and miscellaneous reports on Form 8-K.
- Assistance with the preparation and review of all quarterly earnings materials.
- Coordination with external auditors (PricewaterhouseCoopers) in all aspects of their auditing and reporting of external reporting.
- Preparation of various external reporting and regulatory filings with state and federal agencies including ESG reporting.
- Compliance with all aspects of Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) internal controls with respect to external reporting requirements.
- Developing and implementing procedures for new accounting pronouncements and developing global accounting and reporting standards.
- Analyzing monthly financial results and resolving complex accounting issues.
- Assisting with financial accounting aspects of acquisition and divestiture projects.
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
- Self-starter with high energy and ability to work in a team environment
- Strong knowledge of SEC and U.S. GAAP accounting and reporting requirements
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience in preparing SEC filings
- Strong written communication skills in a style suitable for the filings and reports
- Strong analytical skills to interpret and question data and other inputs
- Strong organizational skills to ensure maintenance and integrity of data
- Strong attention to detail a must and precision to ensure accuracy of reporting
- Ability to quickly evaluate processes and implement efficiencies
- Multi-tasking responsibilities
- Ability to guide and coordinate data collection efforts across multiple locations/departments
- Coordinates new accounting standards implementation meetings
- Ability to work overtime including weekends and holidays that coincide with quarterly earnings, SEC filings and annual report preparation
- Ability to identify and resolve reporting issues expediently to support the Company's accelerated closing process
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance from an accredited university
- Minimum of seven (7) years of accounting experience
- CPA - Certified Public Accountant
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of SEC and U.S. GAAP reporting requirements, and Extensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL)
- Experience with a Big Four accounting firm
- 5 years of experience in Public Accounting.
- 5 years of experience with SEC and U.S. GAAP accounting and reporting
- 5 years of experience in assisting and preparing SEC filings
- Experience using Workiva software and/or Hyperion
- Knowledge of due diligence objectives and procedures; experience working on acquisitions and divestitures; knowledge of purchase accounting rules and implementation issues
Salary Range: $130,000 - 150,000 per year approximation (actual compensation is subject to variation due to factors such as education, experience, skillset, and/location).
