Description

Job Description: Buyer responsible for sourcing and procurement of parts for engines, transmissions, and powerpack integration developmental programs.

Essential Functions:
  • Plans and implements activities related to the procurement of raw materials, goods and services.
  • Compiles and analyzes statistical data to determine feasibility of buying products and to establish price objectives.
  • Approves and qualifies vendors, obtains quotes, examines bids and makes awards. Follows up on all awards through completion of order.
  • Negotiates with suppliers and analyzes suppliers' operations to determine factors that affect prices and to determine lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules.
  • Reviews proposals, negotiates prices, selects or recommends suppliers, analyzes trends, and maintains necessary records.
  • Follows applicable anti-corruption ethics, laws, and regulations.
  • Ability to interact with ERP/MRP and other related computing systems.
  • Must have the ability to interact with all levels of management both internal and external.
  • Helps make moderate to substantial improvement or enhancements to systems and processes to improve performance of Supply Chain Organization.
  • Opportunities for problem solving and innovation are complex and may require comprehensive information. gathering, analysis and investigation to understand the problem.
  • Problems typically involve consideration of multiple issues, job areas or specialties. Problems are generally. solved through creative solutions, drawing from prior experience and in-depth analysis of issues.
  • Coordinates with engineering to develop new sources of supply for newly created parts.
  • Develops long term supply strategy for when programs become production ready.
  • Contractual knowledge and ability to understand Statement of Work.


Level/pay for this position will be commensurate with experience.

Position Requirements

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience or Associates Degree and a minimum of 8 years prior related experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.


Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Knowledge of International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR) requirements.
  • Knowledge of FAR and DFAR compliance preferred+ Procurement experience in a defense related industry preferred.
  • Ability to assess operational efficiency and capability at suppliers across a variety of commodities.
  • Has a thorough understanding of ERP, BOM and demand management.
  • Experience with both Firm Fixed Price (FFP) and T&M type subcontracts is desired.
  • Candidate must be proficient with Microsoft (MS) Word and Excel and must be able to work in a multi-task, fast-paced, team environment.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of and desire to implement lean and process improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Prepare request for proposals (RFP) and bid packages.
  • Negotiates and settles with suppliers regarding damage claims, rejections, losses, return of materials, over-shipments, cancellations, and engineering changes.
