Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Quality Assurance Manager, The Senior Quality Technician carries out tasks as part of the Quality team in support of JARP Quality and related to the ISO 9001 certified aspects of the JARP Industries Business Management System (BMS).

Frequent and direct interaction with interested parties such as customers and suppliers is regularly required, along with communication across the business from shop floor to executive level. The Senior Quality Technician will support the entire JARP team in producing quality results using planning, monitoring, measurement, analysis and improvement methodologies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Responsibility within JARP Industries for the development and support of Quality Assurance, Control and Improvement.

2. Day-to-day responsibility for the maintenance and improvement of the ISO 9001 certified aspects of the JARP Industries BMS under the strategic guidance of the Quality Assurance Manager.

3. The tactical responsibility for following JARP's internal QMS audit program.

4. Works in conjunction with the Warranty Technician to develop Warranty Disposition Reports, as well as communication of warranty findings and reports with customers.

5. Assistance in the maintenance and use of JARP's calibrated tooling program (including calibration, repair, purchase, and development) in support of the Quality Technician(s).

6. The day-to-day coordination for the management and investigation of JARP customer complaints.

7. The coordination of Root Cause Analysis for instances of nonconformance with supplied or JARP produced products and services, including Scrap and Rework.

8. Assist the Warranty Technician and Quality Technician(s) with returned / nonconforming product and material when required.

9. Shared team responsibility for the development, management and creation of Quality metrics including (but not limited to) internal and external issues, Nonconformance's, Corrective & Preventive Actions, Customer Complaints, and Cost of Quality.

10. Development, implementation and training of JARP's Quality methodologies.

11. The creation, review and development of processes, procedures, instructions, forms and other related documents and tools in support of each relevant Process Owner within JARP where required.

12. Support of the Sales and Customer Service Team in the gathering of relevant Quality information, and in the provision of JARP Quality support and expertise for customers.

13. Support the Supply Chain Management team in the development and management of Suppliers through Supplier Audits, Visits, documentation reviews, product / service analysis and other related tasks.

14. Assist with the completion of Quality Technician duties when required.

15. Assist in the development and execution of JARP's Quality strategies.

16. Assist in completion of customer PPAP's and associated documents (including but not limited to First Articles, PFMEA, Control Plan, Flow Charts, etc.)

MARGINAL RESPONSIBILIES:

1. Ensure all Health and Safety requirements are adhered to during the completion of all duties and responsibilities, and support all other JARP employees to achieve the same.

2. Support the overall achievement of JARP Industries goals as strategically coordinated by the Quality Assurance Manager.

3. Work to the assigned personal development strategy based on the goals and objectives of the Quality group, business succession planning and related organizational strategies.

4. Represent the JARP Quality group on cross-functional teams or when coordinating, assisting or attending events, or visits with interested parties (e.g. suppliers, customers, stakeholders, etc.).

5. Other miscellaneous office duties as required.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

1. Two (2) year degree in a suitable discipline (e.g. Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Management, Process Engineering, Project Management etc.).

2. Two (2) years minimum cumulative experience in similar or related roles (e.g. Quality Technician, Quality Specialist, Quality Analyst, Technical Writer, etc.).

3. Experience in a leadership role is desirable, but not essential.

4. Experience in a role or position providing structured training or mentoring to others is desirable but not essential.

Proven knowledge and experience of an equivalent nature will be considered in place of the educational requirements.

LICENCES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

ASQ certification is highly desirable (e.g. CQT, CQA, CQPA, CCT, etc.)

It is required that the person in this position holds, or develops within three (3) years of starting employment in this position, the following ASQ certifications:

• Certified Quality Process Analyst

• Certified Quality Technician

Further areas of study that would be desirable and encouraged are:

• Certified Quality Auditor

• Certified Calibration Technician

• Quality Management

• Risk Assessment

• Six Sigma (Yellow / Green belt)

Other certifications held by the individual will be reviewed for suitability towards successfully performing the role.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

It is essential that the person in this position can demonstrate the following skills:

1. Excellent technical drawing and blueprint interpretation skills.

2. Excellent strategic abilities - can understand situations quickly and develop & implement suitable measures and countermeasures for effective action.

3. Strong team working abilities; will not dismiss or rebuff others and can demonstrate the capability to agree or disagree constructively when necessary.

4. Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to resolve issues by identifying an effective course of action.

5. Goal-oriented, with the ability to self-prioritize effectively.

6. Familiarity with manufacturing processes and businesses; machining, welding, etc.

7. Solid and logical organizational & planning capabilities.

8. Strong learning capability.

9. First class communication skills, with the ability to interact appropriately with all levels of the business.

10. Excellent writing, reading, oral and technical presentation skills.

11. Excellent computer literacy, including the ability to adapt quickly to new software and technology.

The following qualification subjects and / or skills (or similar) are required to be developed and / or achieved within two (2) years of starting employment in this position:

• Basic Hydraulic Training

The following qualification subjects and / or skills (or similar) are not essential to the role but are highly desirable:

1. QMS Auditor

2. Advanced knowledge of hydraulic and / or mechanical systems

3. Non Destructive Testing (NDT) qualifications, experience or knowledge

4. Welding qualifications, experience or knowledge

5. Process analysis

6. CAD

Full time employees regularly scheduled to work 30 hours or more per week are eligible for benefits. Benefits are available the first of the month following 30 days of employment.
