Utility Worker

Job Description: Keeps plant buildings and premises in clean and orderly condition by performing the following duties:

Equipment: Cleaning equipment such as walk-behind scrubber, ride-on scrubber, ride-on sweeper, forklift, scissor lift, billy goat vacuum, and various hand-cleaning tools and equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities: Except as specifically noted, the following functions are considered essential to this position.

1. Maintain plant parking lots including ramp areas daily using sweeper machines.
2. Check and/or clean all tank tops and feet. This includes wiping down all surfaces.
3. Maintain all plant floors, walls, and ceilings as scheduled. This includes using sweeper machines, mops, rags, and other hand-held cleaning equipment.
4. Check and maintain equipment daily. This includes checking for any leaks/spills and draining and cleaning tanks on scrubbers.
5. Check and/or clean all forklift travel area mirrors plant wide hanging from ceiling or mounted on walls.
6. Check and/or clean all fast trac door windows and personnel doors with windows in both facility plants.
7. Check and/or clean Plant 1 sump daily using various hand-held cleaning tools and equipment.
8. Clean all levels of high-rise plantwide. This includes wall channels, beams, grating holes on beams, and all bins. Wipe down after final inspection with cleaning rags.
9. Clean all drain troughs daily using hand-held cleaning equipment including cleaning rags.
10. Check and/or clean silo farm plantwide. This includes checking for any spillage and cleaning spills with broom and dustpan.
11. Check and/or clean breezeway in Plant 1 using broom and dustpan, ride-on floor sweeper, or billy goat vacuum.
12. Check and/or clean all blower pads plantwide.
13. Clean up any trash outdoors at all locations on plant premises daily.
14. Assist Utility housekeeping employees with supplies/tasks as needed.
15. Perform all other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Physical Demands:

1. Standing, Walking - Must be able to see to perform general utility duties. Must be able to communicate by talking and hearing to complete tasks. Employee frequently enters manufacturing areas and must be able to hear to ensure safety.
2. Lifting - Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs to perform essential duties of this position.
3. Walking/Standing/Bending - Continuously required to stand and walk while performing essential duties; must reach with hands and arms to access areas to be cleaned, move supplies, or tend equipment; continuously required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl to perform essential duties.
4. Vision - Must be able to see to assess completeness and cleaning needs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision and peripheral vision.

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is high when in manufacturing areas. Employee must wear fall protection equipment when working at heights greater than four feet.
