About the Role

The IT Network Infrastructure Engineer will oversee the implementation configuration and support for both the manufacturing and administrative networks for our new battery manufacturing facility in Florence, SC. This position will work collaboratively with the site IT lead along with the general contractor, subcontractors and other external vendors to meet project milestones related to network infrastructure buildout. Additional coordination with site, regional and global IT resources to ensure network infrastructure is highly available, secure and built to AESC standards. Once the infrastructure buildout is complete, the role will transition to maintaining and supporting the network. There is an opportunity to move into an Infrastructure Manager role as our IT team continues to grow.

What You Will Do
  • Responsible for leading the implementation of the manufacturing and office Networks. This includes coordinating with multiple vendors and contractors to validate and provide input into overall design, functionality and security of network infrastructure. Will need to collaborate with site, regional and global IT members during design and implementation.
  • Oversee all contractors during our construction phase to ensure the proper installation of all physical network layer components including ethernet / fiber cabling, MDFs, IDFs, building DMARC for ISP access, and exterior data vaults for building-to-building connectivity.
  • Work with vendors for network hardware procurement, installation, and configuration including network switches, firewalls, routers and wireless access points.
  • Responsible for maintaining network security between manufacturing and office networks.
  • Once construction phase is complete, will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance, improvements and support of the overall site infrastructure including both OT and IT networks. This includes updates, maintaining performance, ensuring security and monitoring.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to support both IT and business systems while fostering continuous improvement for long-term success.
  • Monitor network performance and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Support and monitor network devices within the manufacturing information & control systems.
  • Implement and maintain the network infrastructure for the office and manufacturing facilities.

What You Need
  • 5 or more years of experience with network infrastructure implementation, configuration and support.
  • Bachelor’s degree Computer Science, technical training, or equivalent combination of education/experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Cisco networking hardware, fluent in both GUI and command line management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and experience with multiple physical media types including ethernet and fiber.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and experience with wireless networks, preferably with Cisco Meraki.
  • Understanding and experience with OSPF and BGP routing protocols, SD WAN background preferred.
  • Experience with vendor management to ensure vendors are engaged and delivering as contracted.
  • Superior trouble shooting skills and problem resolution.
  • Able to demonstrate professional integrity and diplomacy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with diverse groups including executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
  • Able to engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously and be able to manage priorities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Understands and follows all standards of IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards. (Training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)
  • Understands and follows all standards of ISO14001 environmental standards. (Training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)

What is “Nice to Have”?
  • Cisco CCNA required, prefer CCNP or CCIE
  • Experience with large-scale, complex networks, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience working in cross-cultural environments, or a demonstrated understanding of cultural nuances would be beneficial, given our global presence and diverse team.
  • Experience or familiarity with the dynamics of start-up environments, showcasing an ability to thrive in agile and fast-paced settings.
