Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly qualified Director to run the Special Inspections Department and Materials Testing Lab. The successful candidate will be instrumental in managing engineers/field personnel, and coordinating projects with the clients. This role demands an attentive approach to upholding safety, quality protocols, and timely service delivery, while also ensuring the professional development of laboratory and field personnel.

Key Responsibilities:


1. Quality Assurance:


Establish and enforce quality control procedures for special inspection and material testing.

Ensure compliance with relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations.

Oversee the calibration and maintenance of testing equipment to guarantee accuracy and reliability of results.

2. Leadership and Strategic Planning:


Lead and mentor a team of skilled professionals to achieve department goals and objectives.

Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand testing requirements and expectations.

3. Technical Expertise:


Provide technical expertise and guidance to the field and laboratory staff.

Sign all required Technical Reports using DOBNOW system

Maintain IAS and other lab accreditation certifications.

Foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the team.

Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients to understand their needs and expectations.

Act as a liaison between the laboratory and clients, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly.

Monitor project timelines, and deliverables to ensure successful project outcomes.

4. Project Oversight:


Oversee and coordinate special inspection activities across various projects, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
Collaborate with project teams to identify and address potential issues proactively.

5. Reporting and Documentation:

Ensure accurate and comprehensive documentation of inspection results and findings.
Prepare and deliver clear and concise reports to clients, project teams, and regulatory authorities as required.
Maintain organized records of inspection activities for future reference and audits.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

- Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York and preferably in New Jersey.

- ACI Field Testing Technician - Grade I certification.

- ACI Concrete Testing Laboratory Technician - Level 1 certification.

- ACI Concrete Testing Laboratory Technician - Level 2 certification.

- ACI Concrete Strength Testing Certification

- Demonstrated experience in special inspections and laboratory testing of construction and geotechnical materials.

- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.

Preferred Qualifications:


- Extensive knowledge of Special Inspection procedures, and ASTM and AASHTO testing procedures for soils, aggregates, and concrete.
