We are seeking a Network Engineer II to design, implement, maintain, and support our customers’ growing network infrastructure. You will be part of the Guide Star engineering team that is responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures that meet business objectives and SLAs.

Responsibilities

  • Work on assessing, evaluating, developing, and deploying Managed WIFI solutions for Hospitality and Multi-Dwelling Units (MDU).
  • Assist customers with voice and data network related issues in a variety of network environments.
  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations.
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to customer network infrastructures.
  • Design and deploy customer LANs, WANs, and wireless networks as requested (on-site and remote).
  • Resolve customer and vendor issues by gathering information and implementing the best solutions.
  • Document support activities in ticketing system and escalate, as needed.
  • Design, develop, and recommend process and procedure improvements to facilitate efficiency, productivity, and accuracy within Guide Star operations.
  • Create documentation for new and existing customers.
  • Contribute to team effort by taking on additional tasks as needed.
  • Deliver a positive customer experience through all communication channels.
  • Maintain/develop skills in relevant disciplines (i.e., routing, switching, firewalls, servers, wireless, operating systems, and new technologies as required by customer contracts).
  • Develop and create teambuilding among peers.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a Network Discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a Network Engineering role required.
  • Experience with routing, switching, firewalls, servers, TCP/IP, and wireless required.
  • Experience troubleshooting network and VoIP systems required.
  • Experience with service provider networking (routing, switching, optics, etc.).
  • CCNA, CCNP, ECSE Design, and/or Network+ certification preferred.
  • Experience with SIP and PBX configuration for VoIP preferred.
  • Ability to design and deploy customer LANs, WANs, and wireless with working knowledge of Cisco, BroadSoft, Ubiquiti, Juniper, Nomadix, or Microtik preferred.
  • Experience with analog and ethernet wiring deployments.
  • Excellent customer service and professional phone presence.
  • Able to effectively communicate both written and verbal, prepare reports and plans.
  • Ability to explain terms, both technical and non-technical.
  • Attention to detail and well organized.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and handle sudden shifts in priorities.
  • Willingness to learn; adapts and accepts increased responsibility.
  • Highly responsible, resourceful, accurate, dependable, and self-motivated.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Additional Information

  • Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Approximately 20-30% travel Nationwide.
  • May be required to work from the Iron Mountain, MI office once a month.

Shift is Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CST but must be able to work outside normal business hours when required.
