DESCRIPTION:
Performs responsible skilled and semi-skilled technical and administrative work maintaining and improving the daily collection of residential and small business refuse and bulky materials, by performing the following duties.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties to provide direct or indirect service to the citizens may be assigned.

• Manually collects residential refuse along city streets from residences, small businesses, streets, parks and recreational facilities, and city right-of way; operates hydraulic mechanism for compressing and dumping refuse; bulk; brush or dead animals

• Provides information to customers and explains refuse policies and procedures • Assist with daily equipment checks, fuels vehicles, performs routine cleaning

• Participates in safety, technical and team training

• Available for emergency duty during snow removal and other emergency situations

• When unusual situations occur and/or the City Manager declares a State of Emergency, all City employees may be required to accept special assignments and perform as needed to ensure appropriate service delivery.

Minimum Education and Experience Required:

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree.

Other Qualifications:

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and

maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and

correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and

100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight

measurement, volume and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or

oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in

standardized situations.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

Ability to communicate in a tactful and cooperative manner. Ability to be involved with

communicating facts and opinions, and coordination of scheduling meetings or repairs either

with individual citizens or other City employees
