Simpson University is seeking a full-time professor (open rank) in the Business Department to teach Computer Information Systems (CIS) and assorted Business Management courses beginning in the Fall of 2023. Candidates who apply should be creative, innovative, and cognizant of cutting-edge technologies in emerging CIS and Computer Science fields. The successful candidate will have expertise in cybersecurity, data analytics, cloud computing, some business management content, and will be able to teach students how to work with networks, databases, websites, and integrated systems.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Teach twelve (12) hours or four (3-unit) classes each semester;
  • Assist with curriculum and program development;
  • Advise, audit, and mentor students;
  • Hold a minimum of five (5) office hours per week for students;
  • Attend department meetings and professional development activities:
  • Ensure the timely completion of assessments, grades, and other

 

Education/ Experience:

 

  • Doctorate degree in CIS, Computer Science, Computer Information Technology, Data Analytics or Data Science, OBA, is preferred; however, an appropriate master's degree will also be
  • Experience with multimedia instruction and related technology is a must;
  • Evidence of successful teaching experience in higher education preferred;
  • Successful experience with traditional in-person, hybrid, and online instructional modalities;
  • Strong organizational, planning, and coordination skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a spirit of enthusiasm and energy needed to interact with a diverse student population;
  • Experience with academic advising and degree auditing preferred;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, and a knowledge of learning management platform such as Canvas and other technologies.

Simpson University's faculty salaries are based on three distinct factors: (1) Academic Degree; (2) Academic Rank (i.e. Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, full Professor); and (3) years of full-time college teaching experience. Accordingly, the salary range is $64,480 - $76,000.
