Job Description

Provides, prescribes, delegates and coordinates nursing care with other health care providers to meet holistic needs of patients. Renders professional nursing services in the treatment and care of assigned patients in accordance with physicians' orders in accordance with the philosophy, goals and objectives of Pender Community Hospital.

  • Utilizes the nursing process, for the performance of patient care, to assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate patient care to achieve prioritized patient outcomes.
  • Communicates effectively. Communicates and collaborates effectively with other health team members regarding patient condition, nursing plan of care, patient satisfactions needs and recommendations for meeting identified outcomes.
  • Provides patient care in Labor & Delivery as OB Team nurse.
  • Provide patient care supervision in the Charge Nurse Role.
  • Performs and maintains documentation to accurately depict patient care.
  • Promotes and ensures patient safety in performance of all responsibilities.
  • Engaged in process improvement aspects of the organization.
  • Able to provide care during the initial hour of the newborn.
  • Provides patient care as the Emergency Room Nurse.

Hours: Hours vary/as needed, 6:00am/pm-6:30pm/am, 12 hour shifts



Education and/or Experience

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
  • One (1) to two (2) years' experience preferred

Certificates, Licensure, Registrations

  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nebraska or multi state licensure in a nurse licensure compact state
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • All certificates should be obtained within one year of hire or as approved by manager

  • Ability to effectively present information to patients, families, employees, health care providers, etc...
  • Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively to maintain good working relationships with staff and health care providers
  • Ability to work with skill in identifying problems
