We are currently hiring for a TIG Welder in our Ashland location. This position will use circumferential and longitudinal TIG welders to weld fine mesh assemblies to drawing and job card specifications. The position requires extensive use of hand torch to produce high quality welded joints. The ideal applicant should be able to use other common metal fabrication equipment including spot welders, shears, roll formers, hand tools, etc.

Duties / Responsibilities

  • Reads and comprehends engineering drawings and process specifications required to fabricate high tolerance, complex parts.
  • Safely and accurately operates welding and metal forming equipment to produce parts in accordance with drawing and specification requirements, and safe operating procedures.
  • Meets targets for safety, quality, on time delivery, productivity, and cost.
  • Produces and verifies work according to production schedule and specified requirements.
  • Reports production output accurately.
  • Ensure work areas are neat and organized.
  • Complies with Porvair Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
  • Other duties as designated by Production Manager.

Qualifications / Training Required

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Welding certificate from a certified training program
  • Appropriate judgment and common sense in decision making
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications
  • Able to read and understand inspection equipment (micrometers, rulers, calipers)
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Basic math skills are essential
  • Good communication skills
  • Dependability, detail orientation
