Accounts Payable Clerk (Part-Time)
Part-Time, Flexible 20 hours per week
Greater Bakersfield Legal Assistance, Inc. “GBLA” is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization whose mission is “to promote social change and justice by providing high-quality legal services to the low-income community.”
GBLA ‘s service area is Kern County, California. It is the state’s third-largest county in land area.
GBLA seeks an Accounts Payable Clerk, “AP Clerk,” to join our accounting department. The AP Clerk will
be responsible for generating weekly/bi-weekly check runs from beginning to end and any other checks on an as-needed basis. AP Clerk will perform basic office tasks including but not limited to organizing, assembling, reviewing, verifying validity and number of invoices, data entry, copying, and scanning. May allocate invoices.
Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Daily accounts payable processing, including verifying invoices/amounts and coding invoices for payment.
2. Follow up on invoices requiring additional documentation or missing supportive backup.
3. Vendor management within the accounting system
4. Vendor contact regarding any questions or issues on individual invoices.
5. Check printing and assembly, attaching appropriate invoices and support, mailing, and scanning of signed checks.
6. General filing as required (physical and electronically)
7. General use of Excel spreadsheets (as needed to allocate costs accordingly)
8. Data input and reporting in accounting system4.Pulling, copying, and mailing of checks, documents, etc.
9. Scanning of invoices and other documents
10. Preparation of file folders and labels (as needed)
11. Other Duties: due to changing programs and demands, funding source expectations, and changes in agency policy, as assigned, all staff may be expected to perform other duties upon request
Qualifications:
1. Minimum of 3 years of verifiable work history in accounts payable, entering data into a computerized accounting system
2. Excellent analytical, organizational, and computer skills,
3. Strong oral and written communication skills,
4. Ability to multi-task.
5. Typing 45 WPM
6. 10-key by touch (preferred)4
7. Self-started with the ability to meet established deadlines.
Compensation:
The anticipated salary range for this part-time, non-exempt role is $19-23.00 per hour, with a final offer dependent on experience, job-related skills, and qualifications.
