About this job
Job Description
If you've been crafting your knowledge and skills for years and always wanted to open a heavy truck and trailer repair shop, this may be the perfect opportunity! We want to partner with a very strong shop manager to build up this new business line while continuing to support our existing fleet of trucks and equipment. This hire will receive a salary plus a significant profit sharing that commensurates the value you're adding to the business.
We have a 10,000 sqft shop with three truck & trailer bays, a large parts inventory, tires, etc that's historically kept a local 11-truck fleet rolling forward safely and effectively. The shop continues to service that equipment, but is just now opening up to the general public. We have zero local competition. Up until now, folks were required to drive 60+ miles to have their trucks and trailers serviced and repaired.
You’ll be responsible for handling all day-to-day operations and projecting and guiding DTR’s expansion into the community. You’ll have significant decision-making responsibilities and control of this opportunity and will ultimately be accountable to Joe. Joe is responsible for this business and two other closely related businesses.
```Duties```
- Manage day to day operations and work flow within the shop
- Control and maintain labor cost and expenditures to maximize profitability
- Drive productivity while meeting (hopefully exceeding) quality expectations
- Coaching and developing the team of mechanics
- Working with your team to ensure all vehicles are properly diagnosed and repaired
- Train and supervise the team, providing guidance, and support as needed
- Perform quality checks to ensure work meets company standards
- Building solid partnerships with our customers and the local community
- Schedule vehicle repair and maintenance appointments
- Communicate options with customers along with benefits of the service offerings
- Ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction is consistently delivered
- Maintain inventory of parts, supplies, tooling, and equipment, ordering as needed
- Attend management meetings to discuss workforce management and customer satisfaction
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues or complaints in a timely manner
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in heavy truck and trailer repairs
- Marketing to educate the local community and truck drivers that we’re here to help keep them on the road.
```Skills```
- Strong drive and motivation to deliver high-quality results
- Very proficient trouble shooting and repairing all modern heavy trucks and drivetrains, emissions, trailers, etc.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work meticulously
- Customer service-oriented with the ability to communicate effectively
- Previous experience in heavy truck and trailer repair is required
- Previous experience in heavy truck and trailer repair service advisor is preferred.
- Fully ASE certified (T1 – T8) and hopefully F1
- Ability to manage a team and prioritize tasks effectively
