Options Purchasing Agent – Northern California

Essential Duties

  • Review architectural drawings to determine the feasibility and scope of the option program.
  • Collaborate with the design, sales, and purchasing teams to align option offerings with project specifications and design intent.
  • Provide base house purchasing agents with option bid documents prior to going out to bid.
  • Collect, review, and negotiate option bids for accuracy, completeness, and best possible pricing.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, manufacturers to secure favorable pricing and accuracy.
  • Act as liaison between the Purchasing, Sales, Construction, and design centers in order to provide comprehensive support.
  • Provide training and support to sales, design, purchasing, and construction teams regarding new product options, features, and sales tools.
  • Facilitate the submission of option selections and changes for processing to the purchasing coordinator and help with the processing if needed to meet deadlines.
  • Collaborate with the design centers and sales teams via weekly meetings to ensure on time and complete option submissions.
  • Attend model designer meetings and model walks to review included, upgraded and designer features.
  • Collaborate with purchasing team on vendor changes and all contract changes in relation to options to ensure seamless updates to the system, sales prices, and sales tool revisions.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, market dynamics, and emerging technologies related to purchasing options.
  • Utilize market research to recommend and implement innovative solutions to maintain a competitive product offering.

Additional Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of previous options purchasing experience required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, multitask, be flexible, and meet deadlines.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Intermediate to Advanced in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Education

  • College degree strongly preferred; concentration in accounting, finance, business and/or construction management degree is helpful but not necessary.
