POSITION OVERVIEW:

Clinical & Forensic Toxicology Technician performs immunoassay screening as well as confirmatory and targeted screening analyses. Confirmatory testing is performed on both gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) platforms and utilize solid phase extraction (SPE), supported liquid extraction (SLE), liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) as well as dilute-and-shoot for sample preparation. Additional sample preparations may involve a protein crash or hydrolysis pre-treatments depending on the analytes in question. Targeted screening assays are dilute-and-shoot assays running on LC-MS/MS platforms with high resolution accurate mass (HRAM) analyzers.

This is a 24-hour laboratory, 365 days a year. We are mainly testing for drugs of abuse, including illegal ones, and legal ones that have a tendency to be abused. We test primarily for pain centers and hospital settings and do no workplace drug testing. We do perform Chain of Custody testing. Our matrices include urine, meconium, oral fluids, serum, and whole blood. Our 1st and 2nd shift are the biggest shifts and put through most of the testing. We have a skeleton crew on 3rd shift that also performs some testing but mainly ensures instruments continue to run overnight.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Must Have: Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a human biological science is required. These degrees include, but are not limited to: Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Animal Science, Marine Biology, Neuroscience, etc.

Nice to have: Healthcare background

Will accept Master's, not PhD or engineering
