Job Opportunity: School-Based American Sign Language Interpreter (Contract)

Location: Oroville, California

Are you an experienced American Sign Language Interpreter looking for a rewarding contract opportunity in Oroville, California, for the uping school year? We are currently seeking a dedicated ASL Interpreter to join our team.

Responsibilities:

• Provide interpretation and translation services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in educational settings.
• Facilitate munication between students, teachers, staff, and other stakeholders using American Sign Language.
• Assist with classroom instruction, discussions, presentations, and extracurricular activities as needed.
• Ensure accessibility and equal participation for students with hearing impairments in all aspects of the school environment.
• Collaborate with educators and other professionals to support students' academic and social-emotional development.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in American Sign Language Interpreting, Deaf Studies, or a related field.
• Certification as an Educational Interpreter through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or equivalent credential.
• At least one year of recent experience working as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings.
• Proficiency in American Sign Language and English, including understanding of deaf culture and munication preferences.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish rapport with students and colleagues.
• Flexibility, adaptability, and sensitivity to the needs of students with hearing impairments.
