Position Overview: As a Special Education Teacher in Florence, SC, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality education and support services to students with disabilities. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities, in collaboration with parents, caregivers, and other members of the educational team
  • Provide direct instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs, adapting curriculum materials and teaching strategies to meet individual student goals and objectives
  • Create and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters academic, social, and emotional growth for all students
  • Assess student progress regularly, collect data on student performance, and adjust instructional strategies and interventions as needed to support student learning
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to ensure that students with disabilities have access to the general education curriculum and participate fully in classroom activities
  • Communicate effectively with parents, caregivers, and other stakeholders to provide updates on student progress, address concerns, and promote family involvement in the educational process
  • Participate in team meetings, professional development activities, and other school-based initiatives to support the overall success of students with disabilities
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of student progress, IEP goals, and related services, in compliance with federal and state regulations

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or related field
  • Valid teaching license or certification in Special Education from the state of South Carolina
  • Minimum of one year of experience working as a Special Education Teacher in a school or educational setting
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations governing special education services, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, families, and colleagues
  • Commitment to providing high-quality, individualized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs
  • Ability to adapt instructional strategies, differentiate instruction, and utilize assistive technology to meet the needs of students with disabilities
  • Dedication to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes academic achievement, social-emotional development, and self-advocacy skills for all students
