Construction Technician

Purpose / General Description:

Construction Technician is responsible for performing construction, renovation, installation and repair activities on equipment, machinery, facilities, infrastructure, and property.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform demolition, construction, renovation, and repair activities: Concrete finishing, masonry, carpentry, plumbing, framing, steel erection, welding (stick). Operate heavy equipment, all types of power tools, demolition tools, etc., ….
• Install / replace equipment: Rig, set / level, anchor, align, install air / water / hydraulic services; test to ensure installations have been successfully completed and all safety measures implemented.
• Perform area maintenance activities: Maintain / clean tools, equipment, and facilities as needed to ensure safety and reliability.
• Consistently perform tasks safely: Adhere to all safety policies and work practices before performing any task. Wear proper PPE for the job, ensure safety devices are installed and functional, wear fall protection devices as needed, adhere to confined space requirements.
• Maintain accurate and timely recordkeeping: Work orders, inspection logs, LOTO, confined space, labor hours, project costs, etc.
• Be an effective team member: Always wear PPE and work safely, be an example of good behavior. Follow all work processes and policies. Work cooperatively with co-workers. Productively manage working hours and work schedules to support project schedules.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

• High School / GED (Vocational or trade school degree in construction specialty is a plus)
• Must have a valid driver’s license (CDL license is a plus), and reliable transportation to work
• Experience in working with various construction trades
• Able to lift (up to 75lbs.) and be physically fit to perform tasks and operate equipment.
• Work independently and diligently with minimal directions, to complete tasks on schedule.
• Communicate well with team members and supervisor.
• Apply creativity to solve problems and contribute to the success of the team.

Employees must maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards. Employees are required to climb, kneel and bend to operate and perform tasks. Prolonged periods of standing and walking are an essential function of the job.

Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at a time.
