We are seeking an experienced Orthopedic Physician Assistant to join our team on a part-time basis, providing expert medical care to patients in the Bronx and Queens areas of New York. As a Physician Assistant specializing in orthopedics, you will play a crucial role in assisting our orthopedic surgeons in diagnosing, treating, and managing various musculoskeletal conditions and injuries.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct patient assessments, including medical histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests, under the supervision of orthopedic surgeons.
  • Assist in surgical procedures, including pre-operative preparation, intra-operative support, and post-operative care.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as X-rays, MRIs, and CT scans.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, including prescribing medications, recommending physical therapy, and coordinating with other healthcare professionals.
  • Provide patient education regarding orthopedic conditions, treatment options, and preventive measures.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons, nurses, physical therapists, and other members of the healthcare team to ensure high-quality patient care.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Current certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • State licensure as a Physician Assistant in New York.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in orthopedics, preferably in a surgical setting.
  • Proficiency in conducting orthopedic evaluations, interpreting diagnostic tests, and formulating treatment plans.
  • Strong surgical skills and experience assisting in orthopedic surgeries.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.
  • Willingness to travel within the Bronx and Queens areas.
