Under general supervision of a dental provider:
- Mouth mirror inspection of oral cavity, to include charting of obvious lesions, existing restorations and missing teeth.
- Cleans and prepares operatory for each patient visit.
- Maintains clean and safe working environment, including compliance with osha infection control standards as well as the clinic’s infection control program.
- Proper protocol for cleaning and sterilization of dental instruments.
- Pouring of impression
Under direct supervision of a dental provider:
- Remove excess cement from supragingival surfaces of teeth with a hand instrument or floss.
- Coronal polish, following the determination by dental provider that the teeth to be polished are free of calculus or other extraneous material.
- Operation of dental radiographic equipment for the purpose of oral radiography.
Under general supervision of the dental supervisor:
- Coordinates scheduling of patients with the receptionist and dentist in accordance with Western Sierra Dental Clinic scheduling protocols.
- Coordinates patient flow.
- Supervises and coordinates training of Dental Assistants.
- Inventories and orders dental supplies.
- Attends staff meeting.
- Answers telephone, takes messages as needed.
- Schedules patients in accordance with Dental Clinic policies and procedures as needed.
Quality Improvement Duties:
- Participates in quality improvement activities;
- Participates as assigned in interdepartmental quality improvement team efforts; and
- Contributes to overall Community Health Center efforts in quality improvement towards higher-quality, more cost-effective health care for patients and improved quality of work-life for staff members.
Personal Responsibilities:
- Observes established policies and procedures, including: confidentiality, safety, infection control and other environmental regulations.
- Works collaboratively with others towards improving organizational performance and supports goals and objectives of the organization.
- Meets organizational standard for attendance, punctuality and use of break times.
- Maintains and enhances competency through in-services, staff meetings and educational programs.
- Observes dress code per organizational and departmental standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Certification as a Registered Dental Assistant.
- BLS for the Health Care Provider or equivalent CPR class is required at hire and to be maintained throughout employment.
Other Skills and Experience Preferred:
- Bilingual (preferably Spanish) preferred.
- Additional Preferred Experience:
- Familiarity with an electronic practice management system.
- Computer literate (i.e. logging on to computer, usage of keyboard and mouse, familiarity with Windows, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel).
- Ability to type 40 wpm.
The salary range for this position is: $44,554-$59,509 annually.
