Job Description

The base salary for this position is $30.59 hourly.

Be the author of our culinary adventures for Big Island's best in class CanoeHouse restaurant.  We are seeking a multi-skilled Cook I who is able to artfully work all stations in a high-level, fast-paced bake shop.  This person will assist with specialty menus and baking breads, pastries, pies, cakes, etc. as well as make adjustments to recipes in order to meet special requests and allergies for our iconic CanoeHouse restaurant.  He or she will embrace change, be creative and open minded to executing a superior product on a consistent basis.  The role will be a mentor to lower rated cooks and take lead during meal service.  The successful candidate will set the pace of the restaurant, work independently, and successfully lead a team of dedicated culinary professionals.   Previous work experience as a lead pastry cook in a luxury restaurant environment is required.

Qualifications

  • Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skill and ability.
  • High School or Culinary Program preferred.
  • One year Cook II level or previous Cook I experience.
  • Ability to obtain tuberculosis clearance.
  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language to understand requisitions, orders, to communicate with other associates.
