Job Summary: As the Controller, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial operations and accounting functions of our organization. Reporting directly to the SVP, Finance you will be responsible for managing a team, ensuring compliance with SEC reporting requirements, and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy. The ideal candidate will have a background in public accounting, extensive experience in SEC reporting, and a proven track record of success in managing accounting operations within the pharmaceutical manufacturing or life sciences industry.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the accounting team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Oversee the preparation and filing of SEC reports, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including the review and analysis of financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements and efficiency gains in financial operations and reporting
  • Partner with external auditors and tax advisors to facilitate annual audits and tax filings, addressing any audit findings or inquiries.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making and strategic initiatives, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Stay abreast of changes in accounting regulations, SEC rules, and industry trends, assessing their impact on the organization and recommending appropriate actions.
  • Support special projects and ad-hoc requests as needed, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting experience with a Big 4 or national firm.
  • Strong technical knowledge of SEC reporting requirements and US GAAP principles.
  • Experience in managing a team of accountants and overseeing accounting operations in a pharmaceutical manufacturing or life sciences environment.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to drive process improvements, optimize financial systems, and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to interpret complex financial data and provide meaningful insights.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability, with a commitment to upholding ethical standards and regulatory compliance.
