Join our dynamic team as a Process Engineer and take a pivotal role in developing engineering specifications for production. In this key position, you will maintain rigorous document control and manage job-specific tooling, ensuring top-notch quality and efficiency in our investment casting foundry. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process Optimization: Lead efforts to optimize the investment casting process, including pattern design, shell building, melting, pouring, and finishing, to achieve superior product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Quality Assurance: Set up testing and inspections in control plans to ensure product meets customer requirements. Assist in conducting root cause analyses and implementing corrective actions when product is nonconforming.
  • New Product Development: Collaborate with customer design and engineering teams to support the launch of new products, providing expertise in material selection, casting design, and process feasibility.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction initiatives, leveraging data analysis and industry best practices.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support to production teams, troubleshooting process issues, and implementing solutions to resolve challenges in a timely manner.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate documentation of process parameters, specifications, and testing results.
  • Training and Development: Conduct training sessions for production personnel on casting processes, techniques, and best practices to enhance skill levels and promote a culture of continuous learning.
  • Customer advocate in internal functions, addressing AS9100 requirements and ensuring compliance with quality management standards.
  • Efficiently respond to the Director of Engineering's directives and review all incoming purchase orders and contracts.
  • Develop and maintain Process Routing Control Plans, check sheets, FMEAs, and specifications through a collaborative, cross-functional team approach.
  • Enhance routing information based on continuous improvement feedback and maintain organized document control for all job files and customer data.
  • Act as a liaison with customer design engineers and place orders for wax pattern molds and specific tooling fixtures and gauges.
  • Manage internal and customer change requests, including the update of work instructions.
  • Drive continuous improvement in your area of responsibility and participate in initiatives such as brainstorming sessions and ongoing education.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in investment casting process engineering preferred
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and simulation tools (Solidcast, Novacast, ProCAST, MAGMAsoft) preferred
  • Strong understanding of metallurgy, heat treatment, and material properties
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., ASTM, AMS)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities
