Job Summary

The Resident Assistant is a non-certified employee who is trained to ensure residents receive the assistance with activities of daily living in a respectful, compassionate manner that coincides with the community’s mission statement and core values.

Essential Functions

  • Possesses the knowledge or has the ability to monitor resident vital signs and report variances or changes to the licensed nurse.
  • Able to understand and follow each resident’s service plan and provide assistance as required.
  • Promotes communication between community team members and the resident for preferences, change in medical conditions, and other health related issues.
  • Practices universal precautions and good infection control techniques.
  • Completes all documentation required by the end of shift or as directed.
  • Adhere to the HIPPA policies and procedures for the community.
  • Attend in-service training and other required education as needed.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned

Skills and Experience

  • Must complete a minimum of 12 hours per year of in-service education.
  • Must be able to complete periodic additional training from community team members.
  • Must complete and pass an accredited medication management course.
  • Posses the ability to be coachable, take direction, and work with an interdisciplinary team.
  • Regular attendance as required by the operating hours of the community with exceptions for allowed absences per policy.
  • Must be able to move within the community and the resident’s apartment freely and without limitation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; willingness to accept coaching and teaching.
  • Must be comfortable with technology in order navigate an electronic health record.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Be able to read, write and comprehend English
