Overview
As a Certified Swim Instructor/Lifeguard, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety of patrons and providing high-quality swim instruction at the aquatic facility. This dual role involves teaching swimming lessons to individuals of all ages and skill levels while also maintaining a vigilant watch over the pool area to prevent accidents and respond to emergencies. Your responsibilities will include delivering effective swim instruction, enforcing safety rules, conducting water rescues, and promoting a positive and welcoming environment for all patrons.
Responsibilities
Swim Instruction:
- Plan and conduct swim lessons tailored to the needs and abilities of participants.
- Teach proper swimming techniques, water safety skills, and stroke development according to established curriculum and guidelines.
- Provide individualized instruction and feedback to help participants progress and achieve their swimming goals.
- Adapt lesson plans as needed to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
Lifeguard Duties:
- Monitor the pool area to ensure the safety of all patrons and enforce facility rules and regulations.
- Maintain constant surveillance of swimmers and respond immediately to any emergencies or unsafe situations.
- Perform water rescues and administer first aid and CPR as necessary.
- Communicate effectively with lifeguard team members and other staff to coordinate emergency responses and ensure a prompt and efficient resolution.
Customer Service:
- Interact with participants and their families in a friendly and professional manner.
- Provide information about swim programs, schedules, and policies.
- Address any questions, concerns, or feedback from patrons regarding swim instruction or facility operations.
Program Administration:
- Assist with the development and implementation of swim lesson schedules, registration procedures, and program evaluations.
- Maintain accurate records of participant progress, attendance, and certifications.
- Collaborate with other staff members to coordinate swim events, competitions, and special programs.
Facility Maintenance and Safety:
- Conduct routine inspections of the aquatic facility and equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Report any maintenance or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Assist with general cleaning and upkeep of the pool area and surrounding facilities.
- Current certifications in lifeguarding, CPR, and first aid.
- Certified Swim Instructor certification from a recognized organization (e.g., American Red Cross, YMCA, Swim Australia).
- Previous experience teaching swim lessons
- Must be 15 years of age or older.
- Candidates must be able to exhibit proficiency in swimming.
- Excellent outgoing and engaging personality.
- Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods.
- Must be able to walk frequently.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds.
- This position may require an individual to work some holidays and weekends.
