Job Title: Human Resources & Accounting Manager
Location: Benton Harbor, MI
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, with overtime as needed
Hourly Rate: Salaried position starting at $52,000 per year + depending on experience
Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as an HR & Accounting Manager. This role will oversee both human resources and accounting functions, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and accuracy in all aspects. Responsibilities:
  • Human Resources Management:
    • Oversee all aspects of HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, retirement compensation, and employee relations.
    • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, company policies, and HR best practices.
    • Provide guidance and support to employees and management on HR-related matters.
    • Maintain employee records and ensure data accuracy and confidentiality.
    • Handle employee inquiries and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
  • Accounting Management:
    • Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting.
    • Ensure accurate and timely processing of financial transactions and reconciliations.
    • Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
    • Coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals for audits and tax filings.
    • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
  • Payroll Management:
    • Process payroll in a timely and accurate manner
    • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and reporting requirements
    • Address payroll related inquiries from employees
  • Billing Office Management:
    • Supervise the billing office team and ensure efficient billing processes
    • Collaborate with other departments, and vendors to resolve billing discrepancies
    • Implement improvements to enhance billing efficiency and accuracy
    • Administer and authorize appropriate collection activities in accordance with practice guidelines
    • Monitor all functions related to billing and payment procedures, including the review and processing of all requests for purchases
    • Oversee daily operations of the account department, resolve operational problems, and delegate responsibilities
  • Administrative and Clerical Support:
    • Collaborate with and assist the Executive Directo by performing clerical duties in support office functions such as typing, filing, photocopying, faxing, calculating, and other office functions
    • Compose and prepare correspondence with correct grammar and punctuation in the proper format, and maintain related files in an organized, accessible manner
    • Open and screen incoming mail, distributing it to the appropriate Account Representative for deposit
    • Record and distribute Board minutes as required
    • Record and distribute monthly financial statements to the Board of Directors
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in HR and accounting roles
  • Strong knowledge of HR laws and regulations, as well as accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and accounting software (e.g., ADP, QuickBooks, SAP).
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and compliance.
Education:
  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Accounting, or related field preferred.
  • Associates degree in Human Resources, Accounting, or related field with two years of experience
Desired Certifications:
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP Certification, or receiving SHRM-CP of SCP Certification within two year of starting
  • QuickBooks Desktop Certification, or Certification within one year of starting
