Perfect Binder Operator

The Perfect Binder Operator will operate machinery to cut, fold, glue, trim, bind, and finish the final printed product. Reads work orders and sets the machine in accordance with job specifications. Completes trial run and evaluates the quality and appearance of the product. Adjusts machinery as needed prior to starting the project.

Responsibilities:

• Read, understand, and follows work order instructions and pre-established guidelines to determine set up specifications and perform the functions of the job.
• Setup of Perfect Binder according to height, width, and thickness.
• Gather and collate multiple pages and/or signatures for in-feed.
• Ensure quick and timely set up of bindery equipment.
• Operate and adjust milling and spine bindery preparation station.
• Operate and adjust side and spine, bindery gluing units.
• Operate and adjust control module for each individual station.
• Operate and adjust bindery delivery and lay-down section.
• Operate and observe machine to detect malfunctions throughout the production run.
• Follow and comply with all company Quality Control procedures and policies to ensure acceptable work.
• Ability to select, inspect, compare, and confirm customer samples.
• Responsible for training and instructing assigned Bindery Associates during job set up through to completion on a case-by-case basis.
• As a team member always assist others when needed or requested.
• May be cross trained in other areas of the plant and perform other duties as assigned.
• Must be able to work well with others and function with limited supervision.
• Demonstrate safe work habits in a manufacturing environment.

Knowledge and Skills:

· Able to work 12-hour shifts (7a-7p; 7p-7a) to meet customer demands.

· Able to work overtime as required.

· Effective communication skills

· Great attendance

· Possess a good mechanical aptitude and intermediate math skills.

· Able to use hand tools to setup and adjust equipment.

· Able to work with minimal supervision.

· Experienced in using rulers, calipers, and other measuring devices.

· Physically capable of lifting up to 60 lbs. occasionally.

· Knowledge of how to read machine blueprints and parts list.

· Physically capable of bending, kneeling, standing/walking on cement floors for long periods.

Preferred Education:

• H.S. diploma or equivalent
