OB SUMMARY: Directly responsible for the daily operations of the Banquet/Catering operations. Ensures that every guest has his or her needs met and all staff conducts themselves in a professional and courteous efficient manner.

 

Responsibilities  

  • Plans, organizes, checks, and makes decisions to ensure department operates within the constraints of labor budget and operating cost restraints.
     
  • Directs staff to ensure company standards, procedures, and policies for quality and service of operations are met.
     
  • Supervise and direct the staff ensuring that:
    • The guest is greeted by server or set-up attendants in the shortest amount of time.
    • Tables or buffets are set and cleared
    • Banquet shifts are properly staffed at all times.
    • Banquet areas are clean in accordance with health department regulations.
    • Ensure all employees are in full uniform including name badges and are conducting themselves in a professional manner.
       
  • Constantly encourages teamwork, professionalism and creativity among staff.
     
  • Develop and implement creative strategies to increase revenues while ensuring guest satisfaction.
     
  • Develop effective shift strategies and ensure daily, informative shift meetings are held.
     
  • Must be able to complete banquet checks and distribute to the front desk for posting in a timely manner.
     
  • Perform administrative responsibilities to include, but not limited to inventory control, scheduling, payroll and personnel procedures.
     
  • Plan, coordinate and implement special events and holiday functions.
     
  • Perform Banquet Server and Set-up duties as required.
     
  • Participate in property meetings and employee functions as required.
     
  • Approve all weekly time sheets /payroll, purchase orders, and invoices. Update time & attendance point sheets as needed.
     
  • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other associates to foster a cooperative working environment to maximize employee morale, productivity. and efficiency.
     
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required
  • 1-3 years of full-service banquet experience as server and set up person
  • Prior management experience required
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a strong understanding of the English language
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and ensure thorough completion of duties
  • Requires the ability to walk and stand during long lengths of time
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis
  • May be required to lift trays of food or food items weighing up to 30 lbs
  • Push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. occasionally
  • Climb steps in hotels that do not provide elevators
  • Must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance
