POSITION PURPOSE:

•Under the direction of the Controller, assist with organizational accounting functions and all activities related to cash management, budgeting and forecasting of financial data, and tax handling functions.

Requirements

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/FUNCTIONS/TASKS:

•Ensure the timely reconciliation of all journal entries

•Oversee Accounts Receivable general accounting

•Oversee Accounts Payable general accounting

•Responsible for the recording and reconciling various general ledger accounts, including, but not limited to, prepaid expense accounts, inventory accounts, internal accounts, payroll accounts, accrued sales tax payable, and other miscellaneous accounts

•Perform month-end closing tasks

•Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly Profit and Loss Statements for all operations based on information from General Ledger accounts

•Assist with the preparation of annual operational budgets and other operational reports by analyzing financial and statistical data

•Assist with the preparation of sales and use tax reports

•Preparing additional financial reports as requested by management

•For each operation, confirm month-end physical inventory counts with relevant department manager, obtain final counts and pricing from department heads, review inventory listings and investigate unusual items, and prepare book to physical inventory adjustments

•Perform inventory audits, as necessary

•Provide support for all department managers with regards to cash over/ shorts, cash register functionality and programming, reporting needs, invoicing, etc.)

•Assist Controller with all year-end accounting functions

•Maintain proper records, approvals, documentation and audit trails for all transactions

•Perform all key accounting functions in the absence of the Controller

•Exhibit the ability to consistently analyze current systems and procedures and make recommendations to improve performance

•Other duties, as assigned.

•Adhere to all Inns of Aurora disciplinary policies and code of conduct, as outlined in the Inns of Aurora handbook

QUALIFICATIONS:

•Associates degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited university is required, Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred

•2 to 3 years of directly related experience and training

•Excellent organization and time-management skills

•The ability to consistently analyze current systems and procedures and make recommendations to improve performance.

•Ability to work independently

•Excellent written and oral communication skills

•Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office

•A friendly but professional work ethic and demeanor

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

•None

PREFERENCES:

•Hospitality experience preferred.

•Payroll experience preferred.
