ER Tech - Casual

Position: ER Tech

Department: ER

Location: Cass City, MI

Hours: Casual. Variable hours.

Provides basic nursing care to patients under the direct supervision of professional nursing staff in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures.

REQUIREMENTS:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• CNA, MA, EMT, EMT-A, EMT-P Certification, or Previous ERT Experience
• Current BLS certification
• Certification in one of the specialty disciplines listed above
• Previous hospital experience as an ERT or completion of course for nursing assistant or EMT, EMT-A, EMT-P.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Under the direction of the RN, and in accordance with Hospital policies, procedures, and protocols, performs specific procedures such as insertion and removal of urinary catheters, EKG’s, IV insertion with blood draw and removal of IV catheters, and blood glucose testing.
• May insert IV catheters after training, or after validation of previous training is provided, with demonstration of proficiency verified.
• Assists with NG tube placement and lavage.
• Chaperones pelvic exams.
• Prepares suture trays.
• Applies sterile and non-sterile bandages and dressings.
• Assists with special procedures (suturing, lumbar puncture, thoracentesis conscious sedation).
• Performs visual acuity, eye irrigations.
• Provides ordered oxygen therapy.
