Job Purpose:

We are looking for a hard-working prep cook to be responsible for setting up workstations in the kitchen and preparing ingredients for the cooking process. The prep cook is required to perform basic cooking duties, monitor stock levels, and take on culinary tasks as they arise.

To be a successful prep cook, you should understand and be willing to comply with food and sanitation guidelines and regulations, be quick and diligent, and be willing to improve on the job. A top-notch prep cook should be able to follow instructions and work in a fast-paced environment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for set-up and executing of daily par/prep and organization of individual daily workstation.
  • Preparation of and storage of all food items necessary to operation of station in adherence with our quality standards.
  • Communicate with supervisors when special products are needed or having problems with food quality or presentation.
  • Consistent preparation and presentation based on overall standards, including portion size, for Fajitas, salads, entrees, etc. as applicable per work assignment and as designated by the supervisor with our quality standards guidelines.
  • Maintaining proper cooking techniques for station items as designated by your manager.
  • Receive and store all goods purchased by kitchen as requested.
  • Upkeep of items used by others, such as condiments, dressings, salsas…
  • Responsible for cleanliness and sanitation of individual work area and kitchen as a whole, including equipment, counters, tools, waste areas, etc.
  • Assist fellow team members to ensure delivery of the 3 steps of service without being directed. Be aware of team members and the environment and participate as a member of the team.
  • Notify the manager of any customer complaints at the time they occur. Rectify, practicing service recover, any complaints as soon as possible.
  • Must be able to interact with customers professionally, helping them with changes and last-minute requests as needed.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Education High School Level and beyond
  • Experience 1-2 years kitchen experience preferred.
  • Certifications Heath Card preferred.
  • Training: 1-2 weeks of Training with Managers or Certified Trainers
  • Performance standards: Ability to communicate and follow instructions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Physical endurance to work long shifts in a busy environment.

Working Conditions:

Physical Requirements:

  • Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
